For many of the IT support services and software offered, we have created set-up guides. These instructions are mainly in German.
You can access selected instructions directly. All other instructions can be found in the "IT Support" section of the e-learning platform of the HS Niederrhein.

In the HelpDesk customer portal you can view the requests you have made to IT support.
There you can also send enquiries directly to IT Support.
You can log on to the HelpDesk using your University account.
All students receive personal login data ("University account") when registering for the first time (also known as matriculating or enrolling).
The University account is administrated with HN Indentity Manager.
Before using the University account you need to change the initial password.
Please keep the initial password at a safe place. Whenever it is needed the password can be reset to the initial password by IT Support.
Connected to the University account every student gets a personal email address and further services.
Attention! All service connected to the University account can not be used with the initial password. Please change the password first.
The University account for students will be set up in accordance with Section 3 (6) of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences enrollment regulations on April 8, 2011.

You can go online at the Hochschule Niederrhein with your own personal laptop or your Smartphone wherever you like. You can use your login at all three locations.
The WiFi is to be used with the University accounts details.

eduroam (education roaming) is an international roaming service for users in research, higher education and further education. It provides researchers, teachers, and students easy and secure network access when visiting an institution other than their own.
The service is provided at the local level by the participating institutions (universities, colleges, research institutes etc.).
eduroam is to be used with the University accounts details.

Some of the services offered by the Hochschule Niederrhein can only be reached via the internal network. These include the digital library and the script server, for example. The Virtual Private Network (VPN) enables you to use these services from home as well.
The Hochschule Niederrhein offers VPN access to give you the opportunity to access intranet resources from outside the university as well. These include the digital library and the script server.
If you wish to use the virtual private network (VPN), you will need an Email address from the Hochschule Niederrhein. You can fill in the application form for your personal VPN Key on the German pages of CIS online.
You will receive an Email on your university Email address in just a few days to advise you that your certificate is ready for collection. You can then collect it in person from one of our IT Service Centres. Please bring along a USB stick, a passport photo and your Student ID card. We regret that we cannot send the certificate to you for security reasons.
If you have any questions or problems relating to VPN, our IT support will be pleased to assist you.
All students receive a personal email address at the domain "stud.hn.de". Students are committed to use this email when communicating with Hochschule Niederrhein and to check for new emails at least once a week.
The University email is a reliable way of electronic communication.
The email can be used via webmailer or any email client. You login in with the data of your University account.

You can register and de-register for your exams online, see your transcript of records and print out your status sheet.
TANs are required to register and de-register for exams.
The online-exam management is at Online-Portal "HISinOne".
If you no longer have a valid TAN list, you will receive new TANs in our IT service centers.
HS Niederrhein is the first university in North Rhine-Westphalia to offer the ticket for public transport in an App for mobile devices.
It is also possible to print it out in credit card format via the website for the iHN UniversityApp.
